Essay Topics Over CharacterSometimes, when the economy is in a crisis or other life events have changed, our view of essay topics might be at an all time low. In those times we need to remember that the 'they' who are running around yelling on their soap boxes, people who didn't vote, or did vote, and those who bought their tickets; (another interesting trend), are not really our future readers. What about character and essays would appeal to them?Our focus must shift from essay topics and character to the reader or viewers who will be reading our writing. Just because our readers have something in common with you does not mean that they are the same people. They are more likely to have a connection with the character we are writing about. Or, perhaps they will have a connection with a 'representative' person that shares a similar life style and outlook.The characters we are writing about the need to be aware of what is going on in the world, know how to feel in difficult times, and have qualities that may bring them happiness, help them in relationships, and help them in their daily life. These traits are the backbone of an essay topic, and character has many characteristics and traits.As our story unfolds, we should consider how these traits will influence the audience as they read our writing, but of course, they will affect us as well. You may feel less vulnerable or upset if you think your character is a good person. You can also develop your empathy for a character, especially if he or she is trapped in a difficult situation or is facing the consequences of an act they made.As much as we enjoy the reader, he or she is also a character, a member of the 'Big League.' Each character in the story, from top to bottom, will be a representation of the author and their views, traits, strengths, or weaknesses. While character is often the defining trait of an essay topic, it is only part of the story.It is important to remember that 'how' we view events in our rea l life will also play into our writing, but in a different way. A writer cannot use a character's traits, in the same way that we read stories in the newspaper, we want to understand the characters and what drove them to do the things they did. We need to learn about how they grew up, what they did as children, what they did as adults, what they think now, and we will know why they feel the way they do, why they act the way they do, and why they react the way they do.We are most likely to remember a story as it unfolded through the paper as we read, and we have a better sense of how we felt during it. Character, however, will be the key to a solid essay topic or story, and we need to give it the attention it deserves. We will remember it, and the experience will be a good one.
